Choosing locations for searches and scans

Use the Local option to search all available local volumes. Local volumes are volumes not on a network.
Use the <startup volume> option to search to search the startup volume. In a standard system this will include your home folder.
Use the <username> option to limit the search to your home folder.
Use the Other open to expose a list of all available volumes and specific folders you have added to search.

To add a folder to the search list to make it available for searching, do any of the following:

Drag the folder to the list from the Finder.
Click the add-to-list button below the list to use an open file dialog to select a folder.
Click and hold the add-to-list button to open a menu containing common locations. Choose a location from the menu to add it to the list. The available locations will vary depending on the purpose of the scan or search.
If you have installed the File Buddy contextual menu for use in the Finder, you can use the Search Folder command to add folders to the Find window’s search list.

Click the remove icon

to remove the associated folder from the list.

To select volumes in the search list using the keyboard, use any of the following:

Press…	…to do this
⌘ + A¹	Select all disks.
⌘ + D¹	Deselect all disks.
⌘ + 0²	Deselect all disks.
⌘ + n²	Toggle the selection state of the nth volume in the list.

¹ Search list must be the currently focused item in the window.
² You can us these shortcuts at any time because they ignore the current focus item.
